6.1.1 E-TTL- and E-TTL-II - flash
mode
E-TTL and E-TTL-II flash modes are digital
flash modes based on the further deve-
lopment of the TTL flash mode for analo-
gue cameras. During shooting, the flash
unit emits an almost imperceptible mete-
ring preflash prior to the actual exposu-
re.
Shortly before actual exposure of a shot,
several almost imperceptible metering
pre-flashes are triggered.
The metering pre-flashes’ reflected light
is evaluated by the camera.
The camera exposure is then adapted to
the given shot based on this information
(see camera operating instructions for
further information).
Configuration procedure
• Switch on the flash unit by pressing the
button .
• Press the "TTL" button on the flash
unit to configure the TTL mode.
• Set a corresponding operating mode
on the camera e.g. P, TV, AV.
• Lightly depress the camera shutter to
allow the data transfer between
camera and flash unit. If the camera
supports E-TTL mode this will also be
carried out by the flash unit.
There is no special display for E-TTL flash
mode.
6.1.2 TTL flash mode
This analogue flash mode is supported
by older analogue cameras.
It is the normal TTL flash mode (TTL flash
mode without preflash).
Configuration procedure
• Switch on the flash unit by pressing the
button .
• Press the “TTL” button on the flash
unit to configure the TTL mode.
• Set a corresponding operating mode
on the camera.
• Lightly depress the camera shutter to
allow the data transfer between
camera and flash unit.
